Finally I can see it: the Brazilian coast! I wonder if this is what Geraldo Dannemann first saw 142 years ago, when his crew called out “Land ahoy!” The tobacco specialist from Bremen, Germany, emigrated to Brazil in 1872, and found what he was looking for in the state of Bahia: perfect conditions for growing tobacco and proximity to the harbor of Salvador. My journey will take me there, and I will follow in Geraldo Dannemann’s footsteps.

In August Gothenburg Cigar Festival draws passionads from all over Scandinavia to the city. The 250 attendees at the ProCigar Festival come from all over the world, like the US, Canada, Europe, Israel, Russia, Singapore and China. At the already seventh annual festival in the Dominican Republic they get good food and drinks, while learning about where your cigars actually come from.
