The 20th Festival del Habano is being held this week in Havana. 2000 participants from 70 countries are gathering to celebrate cigars, their history and culture. For the year 2017 Habanos S.A. is reporting a 16% surge in sales, resulting in 500 million US-Dollars in revenues. During the festival Habanos S.A. announced the following launches for 2018.
Partagás presents two new vitolas in the Maduro line. The two vitolas are Maduro No 2 (120 x 55 mm) and Maduro No 3 (145 x 50 mm). The Maduro No 1 (130 x 52 mm) has been introduced in 2015 exclusively for La Casa del Habano and Habanos Specialists stores.
Le Hoyo Río Seco (140 x 56 mm) is a new heavy ring gauge vitola that is added to the Serie Le Hoyo. The leaves for the blend come solely from the San Juan y Martínez tobacco-growing district. The Le Hoyo Río Seco vitola will be available in the brand’s classic Slide Lid Box in 25 and 10 units.
Vegueros incorporates a new heavy ring gauge vitola into the brand’s portfolio. The Vegueros brand, launched in 1996, was created to pay homage to the Cuban farmers. The brand is now made at the Fábrica de Tabaco Torcido “Francisco Donatien” in Pinar de Río. The range is now being enriched with the Centrofinos vitola (130 x 50 mm) for those looking for a medium to full flavour. It will be offered in metallic 16-unit tins.
Habanos, S.A. will present the following 2018 Limited Editions this week at the XX Habanos Festival: Romeo y Julieta Tacos (168 x 49 mm), Bolívar Soberano (140 x 54 mm) and H. Upmann Propios (120 x 46 mm).
At the festival, Habanos S.A. presented a Romeo y Julieta Grand Churchills Humidor by the renowned artisan companies Elie Bleu and Jean-Philippe Martin. The chest encloses a treasure produced for the Festival del Habano: Romeo y Julieta Grand Churchills (190 x 56 mm).
