La Aurora, the oldest cigar manufacturer in the Dominican Republic, is using the 2026 PCA Show in New Orleans to advance its Family Creed Series—a collection of blends built around the core values and principles of the León family, who have guided the company since its founding in 1903.
The series launched last year with Fuerte Sol, Spanish for „strong sun,“ a bold departure from La Aurora’s traditionally more refined profile. Built around a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder, and fillers drawn from Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, and Pennsylvania, Fuerte Sol was designed with the American market in mind and quickly earned strong recognition.
At PCA 2026, La Aurora introduced the second chapter, Perseverancia, a Spanish word meaning perseverance and one that carries deep personal significance for the León family. Like Fuerte Sol before it, Perseverancia is a full-strength, box-pressed release, but takes the blend in a different direction—pairing a Pennsylvania Broadleaf wrapper with a Mexican San Andrés binder and fillers from Pennsylvania, the Dominican Republic, and Nicaragua.
The cigar is offered in three box-pressed sizes: a Robusto at $16, a Toro at $18, and a Gran Toro at $18.50, with shipping to retailers expected in May 2026.
