Brazil has become an important market for many new world cigars. Some brands that have come to the country in the recent years are taking advantage of a growing market eager for trying new blends and dig deeper into the cigar culture.
Last year in a visit to Brazil, Juan Martinez Cuenca, CEO of Joya, told Cigar Journal that the country has become one of the Joya main markets. And it was exactly Joya that presented last Saturday its first Exclusive Edition dedicated to Brazil in the city of Sao Paulo.
The Joya de Nicaragua Antaño Edição Brasil is a Toro size (50 by 152mm) that uses the blend of the prestigious Antaño Original line but with an addition of a leaf of “viso” Mata Fina.
“It is the first release dedicated to a country where we make a change in the blend of the cigar. The previous editions for other countries and regions we just made a special size that wasn’t in regular production or just added bands and other elementsrepresenting the destination of the exclusive cigar” says Cristhian Lanzas, Joya Communication and Consumer Engagement Coordinator, that came to Brazil exclusively for the event.
“Adding the Brazilian Mata Fina Viso in the cigar gives a different touch and also creates a connection with the brazilian consumers” says Daniel Teixeira, Commercial Director of Reality, official Joya importer to Brazil. “We also decorated the box with the colors of the Brazilian national flag and with a stylized bull that makes reference with the chosen vitola and with the Brazilian folk traditions” adds Daniel.
The exclusive edition comes in a limited series of 2,000 numbered boxes of 10 cigars. The presentation of the release was at cocktail party for more than 200 cigar enthusiasts with a lot of drinks, Brazilian music and the traditional “Brazilian Feijoada”.
