Horsepower Cigar Lounge | Montville (CT) | USA

Who is that person that you know that is a total gearhead? That loves the innerworkings of cars and trucks and also happens to love cigars? Well for that dude or chick, Horsepower Cigar Lounge hits on all cylinders! Paul and Choon Athey have created a museum of automotive parts and accessories that make up 80% of the fixtures in Horsepower.

When you look up at the lights, you’ll notice that each hanging lamp is a head gasket from various types of Paul’s previous race cars. Some of the tables are large Goodyear tires from his last race car with a large piece of glass covering it to make it a place to put your ashtray and beverages.  There is also a large, destroyed engine block from a top fuel dragster that Paul drove before the engine exploded and reached the speed of 304 mph before the car caught on fire and Paul caught on fire as well, but both were safely extinguished. The aftermath of this fire resulted in the damaged engine block becoming a great table and conversational piece in the lounge! Even the handles to the bathroom doors are former pieces of various different cars that were part of Paul’s repertoire. There are a lot of various automotive decor pieces to catch your eye!

Let us not forget the wonderful collection of cigars in the humidor that have been curated to absolute perfection! Paul and his manager Tim have selected the finest boutique cigars along with a few of the bigger brands sprinkled in. The lounge is very spacious and comfortable and the regulars are really wonderful people! A must-do, is you must attend an event at Horsepower when Choon is cooking. She makes a spread of Malaysian food that rivals anything you can find in a 5 star restaurant! So go to Horsepower, eat, drink and smoke and be merry and the atmosphere will suck you in and let your soul go full throttle!
