Preparing A Covid-19-Free Cigar Bar

Your Cigar Den, a business leader in the Centre Region, announces the following response to the Coronavirus.

Tony Ghaffari says: “My position is that whenever you have a responsibility to a group of people, one should err on the side of caution. This is exactly why we are doing everything we can to protect our customers and employees. If you are on the side of the fence that thinks this is a hoax, be glad that these steps will also mitigate the flu virus.” Below are the steps he is taking over the next few weeks as recommended by health authorities and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to help mitigate the exposure of germs:

Air Handling Systems:

  • An ionizing purifier will be installed in the HVAC duct.
  • An ultraviolet germicidal irradiation system will be installed in the HVAC duct.
  • Filtration will be upgraded with hospital grade HEPA filters.
  • Filters will not be used for smoke mitigation; we will rely on the new exhaust fans that will prevent germs from being spread around.

Accoutrements:

  • All public use cutters and lighters will be removed.
  • Cutters and lighters will be loaned out to individuals and treated with an EPA-approved combination germicide, pseudomonacide, fungicide, and viricide between uses.
  • Glassware will not be available as cleaning it cannot be guaranteed and puts our staff at risk.
  • As always, disposable plastic cups will be available for use.

Payments:

  • We have implemented wireless pay systems. Look at your credit card, if it has the NFC logo, or you have ApplePay or GooglePay, use it.
  • We will not be reusing currency. Incoming currency will be set aside and disinfected overnight.

Surfaces:

  • High use areas such as doors, the sales counter, humidors and ashtrays will be cleaned on an aggressive schedule by our staff with an EPA approved disinfectant.

Personal Areas:

  • As has been done for years in the gym environment, we will make disinfectant wipes available for you to wipe down the seat and/or table area before you use it.
  • Hand sanitizer will be placed on every table to facilitate “washing” your hands.

There are things you are asked to do that can help. For example, use your own cutter and lighter, wash your hands, no handshaking (fist or elbow bumps) and if you have symptoms, follow the advice of the International Medical Community: Stay home!
