La Flor Dominicana Reimagines Suave

For its newest cigar, introduced at this year’s PCA Show, La Flor Dominicana (LFD) returned to its first cigar, released way back in 1994. Known then as “Premium Line,” that first cigar was a very mild and delicate smoke, and the cigar later became known as Suave. But over the years, LFD’s Litto Gomez’s blending sensibilities have changed, as have many passionado’s palates—with both preferring something with a little more meat on its bones. Hence this year’s PCA Show release, the reimagined Suave.

LFD switched out the old Ecuadorian Connecticut seed wrapper for an Ecuadorian Corojo for the new Suave. Utilizing a Mexican San Andres Negra binder and filler tobaccos sourced from Gomez’s La Canela farm in the Dominican Republic, the new Suave Natural is available in three sizes: Maceo (6 x 48), Máximo (6 x 54) and Gobernador (6 ¼ x 60). Packaged in 20-count boxes, MSRPs range from $8.40 – $12.80 per cigar.

Additionally, LFD introduced a Maduro variant. The Suave Grand Maduro features a Mexican San Andres wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and Dominican filler tobaccos. Available in two sizes, No. 5 (6 1/4 x 52) and No. 6 (6 ¾ x 54 Torpedo), the Suave Grand Maduro MSRPs are $11.80 and $12.80 per cigar and are packaged in 20-count boxes.

Both the new Suave Natural and Grand Maduro cigars will be available beginning in July.
