Haunted Factory Experience at J.C. Newman Cigar Company

This month, J.C. Newman Cigar Co. welcomed visitors to its Haunted Factory experience. In the dark of night, the basement of J.C. Newman’s 115-year-old El Reloj cigar factory came alive with shadows, whispers, and the restless spirits of its past.

“Since El Reloj opened in 1910, hundreds of thousands of people have walked through its doors,” said fourth-generation owner Drew Newman. “Some have never left. Everyone who has worked here for a few years has encountered the ghosts that inhabit the quiet, out-of-the-way parts of our historic cigar factory.”

The Haunted Factory Experience was more than a walk through history. It was a descent into the unknown. Hundreds of brave souls stepped through El Reloj’s doors, passed beneath flickering lights, and descended into the factory’s basement that had been sealed for generations. They followed the footsteps of a tragedy that occurred in the factory many decades ago.

“As we seal the factory’s basement shut once again, we want to thank everyone who joined us, screamed with us, and became part of the story that continues to haunt the walls of El Reloj,” said Newman. “We hope that you will return again next year for another Haunted Factory experience.”

J.C. Newman invites you to join them in celebrating Halloween by lighting your favorite J.C. Newman cigar and watching this 8-part series on the ghosts of El Reloj.
