Flor de Selva: The Year of the Rabbit

Maya Selva presents her new Year of the Rabbit at the Intertabac 2022, the new limited edition commemorating the Chinese New Year.

Although there are already many cigar manufacturers that dedicate a limited edition to the Chinese horoscope, Flor de Selva was one of the first brands to jump into that bandwagon, which undoubtedly helps to create a brand awarness in the Asian markets. Maya Selva presented her Year of the Rabbit edition at the Intertabac show, that is her sixth cigar tribute to the Chinese New Year, after the dog (2018), the pig, the rat, the ox and the one of the present year of the tiger. This time, Flor de Selva is committed to a medium ring-gauge format, an elegant „hermoso“ format 5 ½ x 48 (140 mm x 48), made hundred percent with Honduran tobacco in the filler, binder from Azacualpa (Olancho – Honduras) and wrapper from Jamastrán (Honduras). „We have taken the opportunity to make a new, different, purely Honduran liga,“ says Maya Selva. „It’s a different personality, no doubt, but always with the same care to final details„.

Flor de Selva Year of the Rabbit comes in ten-count boxes that, like in the previous editions, are presented in a design that is a fusion of two ancient cultures: the Chinese and the Mayan. On a background of reds and golds, the lucky colors of the Chinese New Year, Flor de Selva Año del Conejo pays tribute to “Rabbit 18”, the thirteenth king of the city of Copán, one of the best-known Mayan ruins that, by the way, they are in a very tobacco area of the country.

It is probably the earliest brand in the presentation of the Year of the Chinese Rabbit Edition, but it will still take a while to reach the markets. There are only 2023 boxes for the whole world and the recommended price per stick is 19.50 euros.

Along with this very special edition, Maya Selva has enlarged its 20th anniversary portfolio line with a new classic bull format, 6 x 52 (152 mm x 52). Flor de Selva Nº20 Toro, made with 100% Honduras tobacco, is, according to its creator, „a continuation of the logic of the 20th Anniversary in which what we are looking for is balance, with that intense mountain flavor of the entire series that has been so well received between the “connoisseurs”.
