Best known for Sumatra and Java leaf, Indonesia has long been a contributor to premium tobacco blends around their world and their own domestic brands.
Yadie Dayana who owns Dayana Cigar Lounge and Dayana Cigars, has captured the Indonesian cigar story through his book Indonesian Cigar For The World.
In the book, Dayana captures the history, culture, and beauty of Indonesian tobacco with a focus on Indonesian tobacco types and their various growing regions and outlines the historical cigar brands and new labels including his own Dayana Cigars. Dayana also spotlights modern brands including Wismilak Cigars, 1619 Cigars, Bin Cigar Factory, Besuki Raya Cigars whose brands include El Gaucho Cigars, and Dos Hermanos Cigars among others.
“This book represents the result of our hard efforts and deep love for highlighting the beauty, richness, and wisdom of Indonesian cigars. The book also represents a symbol of identity, pride, and heritage which needs to be preserved,” says Dayana.

Yadie reminds us that cigars are not just collectibles but also pieces of living history that must be preserved and studied,” writes Dr Helmy Faishal Zaini S.T,M,Si, Member of the Indonesian Parliament and Commissioner I of the FPKB, in the foreword.
Dayana outlines the history of tobacco in the Dutch East Indies from the 18th Century, through to Dutch-owned tobacco companies in the 19th Century, the first cigar companies of the early 20th Century and the nationalized and private cigar companies since Indonesia’s independence in 1945.
The book also outlines Indonesia’s key growing regions including Jember, which was designated as an Indonesian Cigar City in 2019 by the Indonesian Government, and which now hosts the annual Jember Cigar Festival.
Indonesian Cigar For The World is published in English and bahasa Indonesia.
