“Unforgettable”, Eladio Diaz 73th Aniversario

On May 28th, Eladio Díaz will turn 73 years old and, as every year since 2003, when he celebrated his 50th birthday, he has prepared a special blend dedicated to all cigar lovers: Eladio Díaz 73rd Anniversary “Unforgettable”.

This year, the cigar is made from eight different tobaccos, all from the Dominican Republic, as in the 72nd Anniversary blend, taking tobaccos from the north and the south of the country, the Cibao Valley, and San Juan de la Maguana.

The Eladio Díaz 73rd Anniversary “Unforgettable” features a Corojo Original wrapper from San Juan de la Maguana, with, for the first time, a double binder, Sumatra and Negrito, both leaves from the south. Inside, the filler consists of four fillers from the Cibao Valley, one Habano 2000 aged in barrels, Corojo 99, Corojo 2006, Piloto Cubano; and a fifth one, Criollo 98 from San Juan.

In addition, this year’s packaging is also different, because it comes in an 11-count box, something that is not very common in this industry: ten Toro Extra cigars 6 ½ x 54 (165 mm x 54) and one robusto in the middle, 5 x 50 (127 mm x 50).

According to Eladio Diaz, it is a medium to full-bodied cigar that “reminds me of a handmade cigar a close friend of mine named Daniel Nuñez gave me that was a 55-year-old pre-Castro cigar that left me completely impressed”.

“Unforgettable” is the fourth anniversary limited edition from Tabacalera Díaz Cabrera. A total of 2,000 boxes have been produced and are being shipped to markets at a recommended retail price of $25 for the toro and $20 for the robusto.
