Rum, Cigars and Sushi – an Afternoon in London

A frosty afternoon in London did little to dampen the spirits when none other than Carlos Fuente III flew in to meet UK Fuente lovers – and enjoy some exceptional food and drink.

A cold snap had fallen over London, but on the terrace of Sachi restaurant, heaters purred and the hospitality was more than warm.

Global Leaf Co, which distributes Fuente in the UK, invited retail owners from across the country, who were handed Fuente goody bags on arrival. Having lit up a cigar with one hand, they grabbed a Brugal rum cocktail with the other – and kicked off a truly memorable Saturday lunchtime event.

As well as an incredible flight of rums, dish after dish of exquisite contemporary Japanese food was served on the covered rooftop terrace in the old arts and crafts Pantechnicon building in Belgravia – where happy diners could indulge in their Fuente cigars at the same time.

In the main restaurant, Fuente-themed ST DuPont items were on display as the French company had launched its latest UK collaboration at the famous old JJ Fox store the night before. Carlos Fuente III – son of the legendary Carlito Fuente – kept things informal, saying a few words to his guests and happy to mingle, chat and smoke.

On leaving, all guests were very keen to hear if there would be another Global Leaf/Fuente event before too long…
