Premium Colombian rum, gin, and coffee now complemented by cigars

Dictador Rum, produced in Colombia since 1913, has recently added a premium cigar line to complement their rum, gin and coffee. Concept direction is led by Jason Nelson, with Abe Flores producing the cigars in the Dominican Republic.

The line includes three cigars. The peacock , the bird of many feathers lends its name to Dictador Cigar’s lightest blend the Pavo Real as it’s a cigar that pairs with many things including a morning coffee or white spirits such as gin. The J. Nelson 1974 contains Dominican filler, trace elements of Colombian viso leaf and a Mexican San Andres wrapper to suit Dictador’s 12 and 21 yo rums. The XO 1913 has been blended to pair with Dictador’s Perpetual XO and Insolent XO rums and premium cognacs.

With the final product hitting the market in March this year, Dictador Cigars were officially launched at the 2015 IPCPR. “The response at the IPCPR was exceptional,” states Jason Nelson, Dictador’s Director of Sales. “We knew we weren’t going to break any records, but it was great to get that market exposure. We got enough interest and appointed some distributors. It’s great to see a positive market response after having worked tirelessly for over a year to bring the concept to fruition.”
