Igor Kovacic Pushes CSWC World Record To 3:52:55

Most of the national qualifier tournaments for the 2019 Cigar Smoking World Championship are over. And the past two weeks turned out to be very exiting.

After Mr Darren Cioffi set a new world record in Slow Smoking at the U.S. qualifier, the Swedish „Tiger“ Igor Kovacic beat that world record at the Danish tournament in Copenhagen by 12 minutes. Then, Darren Cioffi participated in the Oslo tournament just two days later and set another record exceeding Igor Kovacic’s time by one minute and 30 seconds (his smoking time for the Macanudo Inspirado Mareva was 3:45:57. However, at the Swedish CSWC tournament in Helsungbourg the world record went back to Sweden and to Mr Kovacic after 3 hours, 52 minutes and 55 seconds.

His journalistic career began in 1979 as a freelancer for German-language newspapers in the US, and later for Austrian media including Die Wochenpresse and Das Wirtschaftsblatt. For ten years he also produced programs for over 60 radio stations around the world. In 1994, Reinhold C. Widmayer devoted himself to all things cigar, publishing technical articles in cigar magazines. He began working for Cigar Journal in 2001 and became editor-in-chief in 2005; under his auspices the journal has established itself as the world’s leading cigar magazine.
