Adonyi First Hungarian CSWC Champion

For the first time ever, Hungary will be represented at the Cigar Smoking World Championship final in Split later this year and the name of the proud contestant is Péter Adonyi. The CSWC debut was supposed to happen last year, but the event was canceled. This year 40 visitors gathered at the Hemingway Restaurant in Budapest to cheer on the 38 competitors and it turned into a very exciting race, according to Péter Faragó from organizing Alföld Tabak.

“In the end there were four contestants competing for the title; Gergő Kelemen, Ildikó Horváthné Lovas, Kristóf Kalash and Péter Adonyi,” he says. “Kelemen’s cigar was the first one to go out, followed by Horváthné Lovas’ who smoked for 1 hour 30 minuntes and 40 seconds. When Kalash was done, Adonyi was left alone to claim the title.”

It was a close one though. With 1 hour 36 minutes and 45 seconds, he was just 50 seconds ahead of Kalash, but it was enough to be crowned the first Hungarian slow smoking champion in history. What he can accomplish in Split on August 28 remains to be seen.

  2. Kristóf Kalash 1:35:55
  3. Ildikó Horváthné Lovas 1:30:40
