Boutique Blends Cigars introduced their new Pelo de Oro blend at the IPCPR trade show held end of July 2016 in Las Vegas, NV. Unlike other Boutique Blends cigar line, this release is rolled at the Tabacalera A.J. Fernandez in Estelí, Nicaragua.
A press statement further explains the company’s collaboration with Fernandez: “Working with AJ Fernandez has allowed us access to his crop of outstanding Pelo de Oro tobacco. The tobacco is not widely used as it is very difficult to harvest a good crop as the leaf is very susceptible to blue mold and other diseases.”
The blend is comprised of a Nicaraguan Pelo de Oro wrapper and filler and a Nicaragua Habano binder. Only one vitola of the new blend has been produced: The 5 1/2 x 55 Scherzo (Pigtail) is sold in boxes of ten for USD 13.90 per cigar.
