Royal Agio Cigars (Agio) announced it has become a member of ProCigar, the Association of Dominican Cigar Manufacturers. Becoming an official member of ProCigar marks a milestone for the cigar maker on its quest to more significantly contribute to helping further advance key global cigar industry efforts by working more closely with local manufacturers in the Dominican Republic. As a new member, Agio will participate as a Gold Sponsor in the annual ProCigar festival being held this week in Santiago.
Established in 1904, Agio has a long history of crafting and manufacturing premium blend cigars and continues to be a family owned and operated cigar company, with global headquarters located in Duizel, Holland. Agio made the decision in 1990 to invest directly in the Dominican Republic by building a factory dedicated to the production of boutique premium handmade cigars. It is at this factory situated in San Pedro de Macoris where Agio produces handcrafted premium cigars available anywhere, including Balmoral Anejo XO, Balmoral Royal Selection, and San Pedro de Macoris.
“We work with a very small, dedicated team to create our unique premium cigars. The carefully-selected pairs working for us in San Pedro de Macoris take great pride in handcrafting our cigars and are true artisans in the craft ”, says Francisco Batista, Master Blender & General Manager of Agio Caribbean Tobacco Company. “With Agio becoming an official member of ProCigar, I feel an even deeper connection to the local cigar community and I look forward to sharing knowledge and working more closely together with other manufacturers to help elevate what is already world-leading cigar quality.’’
