In The Queen City of Cincinnati, Ohio there is a very unique cigar concept called Over the Rhine Cigars. This oasis of righteousness lies right next to a vast market area called Findlay Market. Findlay Market is Ohio’s oldest continuously operated public market. Over the Rhine’s Findlay Market offers high quality fresh foods and plentiful dining options. Many of the shops at Findlay have been passed down from generation to generation which keeps the many traditions of Findlay alive and well. Shopping can prove to be a bit tedious to some, especially of the male persuasion. So, for those ladies who would like to shop freely without having a whining significant other underfoot, there is Over the Rhine Premium Cigars, and a very special annex on the back of OTR called Dude Daycare!
First we start with Over the Rhine Premium Cigars. This shop is named after this region of Cincinnati which has a strong German heritage and a Premium Cigar production history that runs parallel to Cincinnati’s beer brewing legacy. OTR Cigars offers the patron a beautiful storefront with many cabinet humidors that maximize the space up front in this beautiful 18th Century Italianate Architecture building. With a full stock of everything from Crowned Heads to Tatuaje and Fuente, you’re sure to find what suits your palate. As you walk toward the back of the house, you will pass the lockers, the coffee, the bathroom and then you will arrive at someplace very special.
Dude Daycare! There is a garage at the back of this building and it is called Dude Daycare. Due to those pesky Ohio laws about Cigar enjoyment, this garage is the only place where people are allowed to smoke near OTR. But leave it to mastermind Dave Macejko, owner of OTR, to make lemonade out of the situation. The garage is outfitted with a two AC units, smoke eaters, a complimenting exhaust system, a 55” HD Big Screen TV in front of 8 comfortable chairs and plenty of tables and ashtrays and cutters and lighters and bottle openers…you get the idea! This is where one recollects their soul as their partner is out at Findlay Market or parts elsewhere doing their thing. Also, Dude Daycare doesn’t discriminate! Dudes of all genders are welcome at Dude Daycare if there is a SOTL that would like to chill with a smoke in the back.Â
There is no alcohol sold at OTR Cigars, but you are more than welcome to bring your own to complete your experience. The closed container can be consumed in the Dude Daycare with your choice of any OTR Cigar, but that works well because that is also the only place you can smoke here. Take a load off your feet as your loved ones frolic around Over the Rhine and all that Cincinnati has to offer!
