This year’s Best Cigar Award winners are: Montecristo No. 2 (Cuba), Davidoff Winston Churchill Toro (Dom. Rep.), Rocky Patel The Edge Maduro Robusto (Honduras) and Padrón Family Reserve 50 Years Maduro (Nicaragua).
Best Cigar Cuba 2015: Montecristo No. 2
When voting for the Best Cigar Cuba 2015, our readers proved once again that when it comes to the Montecristo No. 2 (awarded the No. 2 spot in our Top 25 list of 2013), we’re dealing with a cigar in a class of its own. Alonso Menéndez founded Montecristo in 1935, and its Piramide is the second of five formats that were being rolled before the Cuban Revolution. Today it’s one of the world’s most popular versions of the format.
Best Cigar Dom. Rep. 2015: Davidoff Winston Churchill Toro
Having undergone a complete makeover in Spring 2015, Oettinger Davidoff’s Winston Churchill line was the public’s choice for the 2015 Best Cigar trophy for the Dominican Republic. Although the line has been available for a relatively short time, the Winston Churchill Toro received the trophy for best Dominican cigar.
Best Cigar Honduras 2015: Rocky Patel The Edge Maduro Robusto
In 2014, a Rocky Patel cigar from “The Edge” collection won the award for Best Cigar Honduras. Our readers have now awarded the Rocky Patel The Edge Maduro Robusto the Cigar Trophy for Best Cigar Honduras 2015. The maduro, featuring filler tobaccos from undisclosed country/countries of origin, is a cigar with a powerful, but well-balanced blend.
Best Cigar Nicaragua: Padrón Family Reserve 50 Years Maduro
During Padrón Cigars’ 50th anniversary last year, the prestigious Family Reserve line was complemented by the new vitola No. 50, available with both a natural and maduro wrapper in regular production. This year, the Padrón Family Reserve 50 Years Maduro came out on top in the running for Best Cigar Nicaragua 2015.
