This year, the awards for Best Brand went to: Villiger Tobajara (Brazil), Brun del Ré Gold (Costa Rica), Cohiba (Cuba), Davidoff Nicaragua (Dom. Rep.), Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 (Honduras) and Padrón Family Reserve (Nicaragua).
Best Brand Brazil 2015: Villiger Tobajara
In 2015, the award for Brazil’s Best Brand went to a line blended by Heinrich Villiger, the Villiger Tobajara, which has been hugely popular in Europe for several years. It is also now available in the USA. The Brazilian Puro stands out with its cleverly devised mild blend of Mata Fina and Brazilian Sumatra tobaccos, and is rolled in the region surrounding Salvador in the federal state of Bahia.
Best Brand Costa Rica 2015: Brun del Ré Gold
Costa Rica’s Best Brand this year went to the Gold line of Carlo Corazza’s cigar brand Brun del Ré. The line of the boutique brand that is mainly well known in Europe regularly scores outstanding ratings at tastings. This consistent high quality has now also been honored by the public.
Best Brand Cuba 2015: Cohiba
Cohiba, probably the most famous cigar brand worldwide, this year won the title of Best Brand Cuba. This figurehead of the Cuban cigar industry started off as a cigar originally rolled for Fidel Castro. Later, it was given to diplomats as a gift and its production at a small scale began in 1964. Since 1966, the emblematic brand has been manufactured in Havana’s El Laguito factory by Cuba’s most experienced rollers.
Best Brand Dom. Rep. 2015: Davidoff Nicaragua
The Cigar Trophy for the Best Brand from the Dominican Republic ironically went to a Nicaraguan Puro. Our readers were so convinced by the multi-award-winning Davidoff Nicaragua, launched in 2013, that they voted the cigar Best Brand Dom. Rep. for a second time.
Best Brand Honduras 2015: Rocky Patel Vintage 1990
The Best Brand Honduras award went to a classic of the manufacturer Rocky Patel. The Vintage 1990, which has garnered the highest praise, has been an integral part of the Rocky Patel portfolio for many years now and managed to receive the title of the best Honduran brand of the year.
Best Brand Nicaragua 2015: Padrón Family Reserve
The award-winning Padrón Family Reserve was also voted by our readers for the second time as being Nicaragua’s best brand. The formats of the line stand for anniversaries and important events of the family company. The No. 50, which was also awarded with a trophy, is the most recent stick to complement the line. The cigar’s blend only contains exclusively aged tobaccos.
