Two years ago, we first reported on the cigar brand Maravilla [Spanish for “wonderful flower”] – a promising blossom of a newcomer, but, sadly, due to management problems, one that quickly faded. Now it’s blooming once again, this time under Cuban oversight in the Dominican Republic.
In 2013, the Buena Vista Tobacco Factory relocated from Cancun, Mexico to the Dominican Republic, where it has settled into a new, modern factory. Its cigars – which, due to trademark rights, will be sold outside of the EU under the Buena Vista label – are rolled exclusively by 15 Cuban master rollers, all of whom learned their craft in Cuba’s best factories.
Every box highlights the torcedores through images and text, lending each cigar a personal touch. The former director of quality control at Partagás in Havana is now production director at Maravilla. All cigars are nestled in elegant boxes of 10.
