DH Cigars Takes Next Step Towards More Sustainable Packaging

Rather than presenting a major new launch at InterTabac, DH is highlighting another step in its sustainability strategy: the transition towards new packaging designed to reduce the amount of material used.

New Recycled Packaging

The company has introduced fully recycled boxes for two products, following an extensive process of finding suitable partners and sourcing and verifying materials.

According to DH, detailed material calculations were carried out as part of the development process. Among other changes, metal components have been reduced from several grams to zero. The company sees the packaging as another step towards decarbonization and dematerialization while maintaining – and, in its view, improving – the quality and appearance of the product.

Furia 6x48 Limited Edition

Also on display is the Furia 6x48, the second series of Furia Inanna. The edition consists of 24,000 individually numbered cigars, presented in boxes of ten.

The cigar is available in markets across Europe, including Austria.

For Furia, the transition comes with additional costs. The company says the new packaging is currently considerably more expensive than traditional wooden boxes. Nevertheless, it views the change as a deliberate long-term investment in more sustainable packaging.
