Star of Frasier and Cheers, Kelsey Grammer, scooped the top prize at the Snow Queen Cigar Smoker of the Year Awards held at London’s Boisdale of Canary Wharf.
Fellow actor Charlie Sheen was voted runner up and made the most of the chance with a rambling speech in front of a packed house of revellers, who had earlier been treated to Joya de Nicaragua, Habanos and Macanudo cigars on the terrace. The awards followed a sumptuous meal and wines.
The Churchill Hyatt Regency won Terrace of the Year and My Smoking Shop from Preston won Retailer of the Year. Much-missed cigar man Nic Wing was posthumously awarded the Cigar Writer of the Year, which was accepted movingly by his wife, Sally. Cigar Journal columnist Nick Hammond presented the coveted Cigar of the Year Award to Joya de Nicaragua’s Cuatro Cinco Reserva Especial Doble Robusto, which was collected on stage by Scott Vines of Tor Imports, the UK importer for Joya.
The evening continued for many with more smokes and Scotch on the terrace late into the night.
