The Dominican Cigar Fest is Here to Stay

With more than 80 stands and companies linked to the entire premium cigar production chain, the organizing committee of the Dominican Cigar Fest carried out the official presentation of the event, which will take place in Tamboril, World Cigar Capital, on the 10th, 11th and November 12, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., with an estimated attendance of 12,000 people and air-conditioned areas for pairings, tastings and presentations. Tickets are now on sale at https://todoticketsrd.com/events/viernes-dominican-cigar-fest-2023.

The president of the Dominican Cigar and Tobacco Association (Adocitab) and the Dominican Cigar Fest, Osvaldo Radhamés Rodríguez highlighted that the second edition will exceed the expectations they had, of “an event that is not only from Santiago or Tamboril, but from our country, for this reason I want to congratulate the Dominican State for its support of the tobacco industry.”

Likewise, he said that he recently toured Europe, together with several Adocitab partners, and I assure them: “Not a step back, continue to adhere to this project, because we represent a great contribution to our country in terms of the Gross Domestic Product. Stay focused, and let’s make this festival far surpass that of 2022.

Likewise, he highlighted the world leadership of the Dominican Republic in the production of cigarettes, with more than 400 million dollars in foreign currency and more than 100 thousand direct and indirect jobs, “we are flying high above all the countries that compete with us.”

For his part, the festival product, Angelo Mejía, stated that the Dominican Cigar Fest “will be great and will last forever.” He explained that for this version more spaces were added, “we have many brands that are going to sponsor, many brands within the world of tobacco, logistics, boxes, cellophane and there will be activations within the festival.”

He said that there will be an entertainment space as well as air-conditioned rooms for presentations and talks, plus live music during the day, food trucks, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., with an entrance price of around $18 ( thousand Dominican pesos), with the right to talks, tastings, pairings and live music.

For his part, the technical director of Adocitab and the Dominican Cigar Fest, Francisco Matos, stated that Dominican tobacco was the first: “From here the first leaves went to Europe and here the first plantation was made… but the history did not help us. However, now we are a world power.”

The Dominican Cigar Fest is here to stay, he stated, and is taking place in the only country in the world that has declared by law Dominican tobacco and cigars as Cultural Heritage in the Dominican Republic, “let us celebrate this mysterious crop, whose fruit is the leaf that is processed, fermented, aged and offers us flavor, aromas, texture, color, in an extraordinary product that eliminates stress from the human body. A cigarette in the hands of the smoker is relaxation, satisfaction, you think better, and if you are in love your words come out better. “Come on, let’s smoke,” he concluded.
