Rocky Patel Premium Cigars began shipping the 20th Anniversary Maduro line to tobacconists nationwide on the first week of March. The 20th Anniversary Maduro comes to market nearly two years after its companion brand, 20th Anniversary Natural, made its debut. The two brands were slated to be introduced simultaneously at the IPCPR trade show in 2015, yet the Maduro version got delayed.
“I wasn’t fully satisfied with the Maduro blend,” explained Rocky Patel, company president and CEO. “The flavor was there, but it needed more age to really achieve greatness. And we’ve done it before, keeping cigars in our aging room for another year or two until they’re perfect.”
Both the Natural and Maduro lines feature identical Nicaraguan and Honduran fillers and Honduran binder tobaccos, yet the 20th Maduro showcases a maduro wrapper from the Jamastran Valley in Honduras.
The line features three box-pressed vitolas: Rothchild (4 1/2 x 50; USD 10.35), Robusto Grande (5 x 54; USD 10.85) and Toro (6 x 52; USD 12.00). 20th Anniversary Maduro is rolled at the Paraiso factory in Danli, Honduras, and comes in 20-count boxes.
