GRE Trade Takes Over Distribution of Laura Chavin in Germany

Starting in October 2026, GRE Trade will take over the exclusive distribution of the premium cigar brand in Germany. Both companies aim to significantly expand Laura Chavin’s presence in specialty stores and jointly inject new momentum into the brand.

Since 1998, Laura Chavin has stood for a unique interpretation of Dominican cigar culture. With GRE Trade, Laura Chavin now has a distribution partner that possesses the capabilities to bring this profile to the fore much more effectively in the German market.

“For Laura Chavin, this is far more than just a change in distribution partner,” says brand owner Willi Knopf. “We made a very deliberate decision to choose GRE Trade. For me, the decisive factor was not just their sales strength, but our shared understanding of how a premium and luxury brand must be developed over the long term. We have a great brand and great cigars. Now, together, we’re laying the groundwork to ensure they get the visibility they deserve in German specialty stores.”

For GRE Trade, too, the partnership marks another step in the expansion of its cigar business. With Laura Chavin, the company is adding an established German premium brand to its portfolio.

Olaf Ruf, Managing Director of GRE Trade GmbH: “Laura Chavin has everything a strong premium brand needs: exceptional quality, a clear identity, high brand recognition, and enormous potential. We are convinced that together we can make a big difference—and we look forward to bringing Laura Chavin to the German specialty retail market with renewed energy.”

This will not be limited to a mere takeover of distribution. Laura Chavin and GRE Trade aim to actively bring the brand to life in retail settings. Plans include more intensive personal retailer support, sales assistance, tastings, and events, as well as new initiatives in communication and brand presentation.

Responsibility for the brand, product development, cigar quality, design, and brand image remains with Laura Chavin. GRE Trade will handle distribution, logistics, and comprehensive sales support for the German specialty retail market.
