Mexican cigar manufacturer and tobacco producer Puros Santa Clara has launched a new line within their Madrigral brand in collaboration with John Bodycombe. In contrast to the original Madrigal blend which utilized Nicaraguan tobacco in the filler, the new Madrigal Picador is a Mexican puro.
The new value prized longfiller was developed by Jorge Ortiz-Alvarez’ family, active in the cigar industry since the 1830s, in cooperation with John Bodycombe, an industry veteran that has been in the cigar industry since 1988, and previously worked with Dunhill and JC Newman. The developement of the blend has taken place over the past six months.
“With our new partnership,” John said, “both parties are looking forward to releasing further new developments later in 2017 – 2018. We have some exciting ideas for both the importer, and the cigar smoker, looking for an everyday premium cigar at an attractive price.”
The new line features all Mexican aged tobaccos, with the San Andres Capa Fina wrapper and Morron limpio binder aged for two years, and the Mexican San Andres filler tobaccos aged three years.
