This year, one of the best known tobacco growers and cigar-makers in the cigar industry, Nestor Plasencia Sr., was honored for his life’s work.
Nestor Plasencia Sr. is one of the best known tobacco growers and cigar-makers in the cigar industry. When his Lifetime achievement Trophy was announced in Orlando, the entire room rose to their feet with applause. He supplies the best and rarest tobaccos to nearly every important cigar-maker around the Caribbean. His fields in Nicaragua and Honduras pioneered premium tobacco growing in Central America.
He, with his sons, continue to innovate today. Now at his cigar factories he makes cigars for Rocky Patel, Maya Selva, Jesus Fuego, Casa Magna, Alec Bradley, and many others. He is fostering, as he has done for decades, many of the rising young stars of the premium cigar business.
At the Cigar Journal Trophies party, the Plasencia extended family, including the cigar makers he has helped over the years, danced and celebrated throughout the night. This honor was well received.
