Hickory Cigar Club (NC) | Great Cigar Clubs Around the Globe

Hickory Cigar Club was founded in early 1994 by a couple of cigar enthusiasts looking for fellow cigar lovers to share their passion for good cigars and the other finer things in life. From an initial group of approximately 25 Charter Members, the club has grown over the years to its current membership of 170, and hosts 4-6 events each year with average attendance of 75-100 persons per event.

The membership is quite diverse, with men and women from all walks of life and most living within a 30 minute drive of Hickory, NC, where the club is based. Events are currently held at Main Cellar City Club, a private establishment in downtown Hickory, which provides outstanding food and libations for the group.

Tobacco retail partner Craig Cass (Tinder Box of Charlotte) makes arrangements for cigars and guests for the club’s events, and has been the group’s partner since the club’s inception.

As the group approaches its 25th anniversary in 2019, the list of Honored Guests continues to grow as does the reputation of the group within the cigar industry. The club has been fortunate enough to have had visits from the “who’s who” of the cigar industry through the years: Jorge Padron, Rocky Patel, Litto Gomez, Cynthia Fuente, Henke Kellner, Avo Uvezian, Ernesto Perez-Carillo, Dr. Alejandro Cuenca, Jonathan Drew, Bobby Newman, Jon Huber, Manuel Quesada and many others – the list is too long to include here.

The most recent Guest of Honor was Janny Garcia of My Father Cigars. Special plans are underway for some big events during the 2019 season to celebrate the 25th Anniversary, as the group did for its 10th and 20th anniversaries previously. Each of these milestones has been enjoyed with several custom-made cigars honoring the event.
