Cigaragua Amsterdam Humidor

World’s First Nicaragua-Only Cigar Store Opens In Amsterdam

Cigar makers and retailers from across the world have gathered to pay homage to the Nicaraguan cigar. Cigaragua – a unique cigar store selling only handmade cigars from Nicaragua – welcomed worldwide guests with a packed launch party in Amsterdam. The store was the brainchild of Sasja Van Horssen, who already runs several cigar stores in The Netherlands.

“Nicaraguan cigars are the best cigars in the world,” he told Cigar Journal at the launch. “I’ve known this for a long time and it’s time everyone else knew it. Now they can judge for themselves.”

Brian Shapiro of Oliva shares van Horssen’s opinion. “We don’t forget that all our cigars have a little bit of Cuba in them, thanks to the skills of the cigar makers,” he told a packed store on launch night. “But I’m here to tell you that there’s a new Sheriff in town. It’s the Nicaraguan cigar.”

Representatives from Oliva, Padron, Joya de Nicaragua, Plascencia and CRE cigars were all present to admire Cigaragua’s huge walk in humidor and tasting lounge.
