Cigar Journal’s Cigar Trophy competition gets fiercer each year. Yet it remains the industry’s most coveted, because you – the readers and smokers who visit these places and taste these cigars – are the judges.
Best Accessory went to PerfecDraw – the ingeniously designed tool that research dentist Rod Kurthy painstakingly designed to do away with that bane of cigar smokers, the plug.

“I am so incredibly honored to have been welcomed so warmly and enthusiastically by people who I am ‘star struck’ by,” he said. “It was simply amazing to have such recognizable figures from the industry make the effort to come over and congratulate me on winning this fantastic award.”
Using an eye for detail and his experience in research and development, Kurthy created the PerfecDraw – which users gently insert through the head of the cigar. Bits of tobacco are removed from inside the cigar using the ingenious PerfecDraw tool, allowing cigars that previously didn’t draw to be comfortably smoked.
