On the Western side of West Virginia lies Huntington, home to Marshall University and the newest member of must-see lounges in the US, Lafontaine’s Rooftop Lounge. Within the same building, on the ground floor lies Lafontaine’s Tobacco and Wine Shop. Not just a wine and tobacco shop, but the store downstairs, which is the original business that led to the rooftop lounge, also carries other fine delicacies such as Holl’s Swiss truffles from Vienna, beer cheese and pretzels as well as Moscato Tiramisu.
The actrual rooftop lounge is the pinnacle of excellence! The beautiful balcony and outside seating makes one feel like they are in Chicago or New York, enjoying the urban environment and scenery. The bar at the lounge serves up incredibly unique cocktails, one in particular is the old-fashioned. A super smooth, mapley version of the classic is served to wet your whistle and compliment a cigar as you enjoy a beautiful summer day on the terrace.
Remember that the store downstairs closes at 6pm, but the rooftop lounge stays open deep into the night so you can enjoy the ambiance of a beautiful West Virginia night with a libation of your choice and a great cigar!
