Japanese Whisky and Cigar Pairing at KL’s The Cabinet

The Cabinet, an intimate, comfortable, and cosy lounge which opened in Kuala Lumpur’s Bangsar district recently, will host an inaugural whisky and cigar pairing event on Thursday 7 June.

Japanese Whiskies including Yamazaki 10YO, Nikka Yoichi 10YO, Nikka Taketsuru 17YO, Ichiro’s Malt Wine Wood Reserve, and Yamazakura 963 21-Year Old Blended Malt Whisky will be paired with a Gurkha Royal Challenge Torpedo.

The Gurkha Royal Challenge was chosen as the Gurkha brand is relatively unknown in Asia, and because it will complement the styles of Japanese whisky being presented, said The Cabinet co-owner Jeremy Tay.

The Cabinet was founded by friends who have a strong passion for cigars, whiskies and business respectively. “It was over a couple of casual discussions sitting in a bar, with whiskey and cigar in tow, that we realised that there was no better partnership / combination to start our very own cigar & whiskey lounge,” said Jeremy Tay.
