Hoyo La Amistad Robusto is #4 of Cigar Journal’s Top 25 of 2016

cj_top25_badge_2016_no4Hoyo de Monterrey’s new line (available in Gordo, Robusto, Toro) offers a fresh perspective on the brand. Exile Cuban cigar master A.J. Fernandez’s skillful hand is evident here. Having grown up near the Hoyo farm in Cuba, he displays his affinity for the brand and his former home with this cigar. General Cigar Co., the brand’s US owner, had the series produced at A.J. Fernandez in Estelí. Not only is this cigar one of the year’s most interesting creations, its price is also impressive: USD $7.59 each (boxes of 20).

Tasting notes: In addition to the earthy fundament, leathery, woody and toast aromas with cloves develop, as well as the sweetness of cinnamon, cocoa and hazelnut cream. A subtle citrus note is also added. Medium-bodied.
