Newly released in 2016 by La Aurora, the Dominican Republic’s most time-honored cigar manufacturer, the Black Lion line kicks off Cigar Journal’s list of the best cigars of 2016. In particular, the La Aurora Black Lion Cameroon Toro won over the tasting panel. La Aurora’s Cameroon series differentiates itself in blend from the other lines in the Black Lion portfolio with a Cameroon wrapper, an Ecuador binder, and filler tobacco from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. The Cigar Journal tasting panel had the following to say about the cigar:
“The cigar starts out oily and juicy on the palate. As the creamy, luxurious smoke builds, aromas of wood, earth and nut develop, revealing fruity vanilla sweetness and a peppery bite. A very spicy smoke. Medium-bodied.”
