Rare Unicorn Spotted at Dortmund

The sight of a full-size rearing unicorn greeted visitors to the Tor Imports booth at this year’s InterTabac tradeshow.

The UK distributor – best known for supplying the UK trade with some of the world’s best-known handmade cigars – has dipped its toe in the choppy waters of cigarmaking with its new handmade line, Charatan.

The brand – originally released for many years under the Dunhill brand in the UK – was relaunched in time for last year’s show, and this year, new sizes were released to mark the brand’s move into international markets for the first time.

As well as the unmissable rearing horse, Tor’s stand for InterTabac 2024 included a variety of boxes of the new range of Charatan. These include Churchill, Robusto and Half Churchill sizes in wrapped in Connecticut, Colorado and Maduro leaves.

The Half Churchill in particular is an interesting innovation; the diminutive cigar is a difficult size to perfect, with its 3.5 inches by 48 Ring Gauge. Each wrapper adds a unique flavour to a size that is aimed at the time limited smoker, or those that want a ‘proper’ cigar without having to light up something big.
