The 2015 Cigar Trophy Ambassador Award went to Marko Bilić, Croatian founder of the Cigar Smoking World Championship. The goal of the international competition is to smoke a small format cigar as slowly as possible. Thanks to Bilić’s indefatigable zeal, what began in 2010 as a friendly match between friends has become an international event. Passionados from dozens of countries participate, with advance qualifying tournaments taking place in the US and multiple European nations.
Even though participants may be initially drawn to the competition for its elaborate rules and competitive spirit, the event’s greatest accomplishment is the way it brings together smokers from around the world through a common passion for the cigar.
