First of all, sorry RenĂ© Loser for the headline. It’s definitely not the first time, I realize that, but hopefully it’ll be the last. But probably not.Â
Anyway, the oldest qualifications rounds in the history of the Cigar Smoking World Championship are Estonia and Switzerland. While Estonia is one of the last competitions of the season, Switzerland’s took place in the beginning of June. The competition goes under the name of Big Alpine Smoke and it was held in Cigar Club Chur about an hour outside of Zürich.
Last year’s champion Natasha Nicolazzi was back to defend her title, and it was a close call, but in the end she had to admit defeat. A ten minute penalty for losing ash made the time difference bigger, but even without that she would sitll have been a minute behind Loser, the winner. Sorry again.Â
His time of 1 hour 12 minutes and 1 second was enough to take this first time competitor to the final in Split in September.Â
