J.C. Newman Cigar Co. was founded in May of 1895. This year, they are celebrating their 130th anniversary! Join them for a special day celebrating the history and legacy of America’s oldest family-owned premium cigar company at their historic El Reloj Cigar Factory. Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, from 11 AM to 3 PM, as they host their fifth annual Founder’s Day Celebration in Tampa, FL.
What to expect:
- Free factory tours – discover the rich history of J.C. Newman and explore their museum and factory.
- Cuban sandwich eating challenge – featuring 10 time Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest Champion Miki Sudo and last years Cuban Sandwich Challenge reigning champion Nick Wehry, also known as The Hungry Couple in an exciting competition.
- Family fun activities – enjoy live music, lawn games, and MOSI Children’s science experiments.
- Meet the Misfits of Ybor – learn about and interact with the rescued chickens and roosters from The Ybor Misfits Microsanctuary
- Local food trucks and stands – a variety of local vendors will be on-site throughout the day.
- Exclusive cigar deals – purchase their Sanchez y Haya cigars for just $0.05 each (limit 2 per person) with any $20 purchase.
- Designated outdoor smoking lounge – while cigars may be purchased inside, all smoking must take place in their designated outdoor smoking area, where ashtrays will be provided.
This event is free and open to the public, and they invite everyone to come and enjoy a day filled with history, tradition, and community.
