Omar de Frias, CEO of Fratello Cigars, has introduced the new Navetta Inverso (“reversed” in Italian) this year at the InterTabac. The new blend is a variation of the initial Navetta line launched in 2017.
“We inversed all the tobacco leaves in the blend to see what would happen. And surprisingly, it worked! The filler is made with wrapper leaves from a single farm in Nicaragua and from Dominican tobacco. The binder is an Ecuador Habano and the wrapper is a Nicaragua Habano. This is a medium to full body cigar with nice spices, not to overwhelm your palate”, explains the founder, a former NASA analyst.
The Navetta Inverso was officially introduced to the US market at this year’s IPCPR in July. In Europe, Germany was the first market to get the Navetta Inverso, since June – one month before the US market – via the Kleinlagel family. It is now also distributed in Norway, the Czech Republic and in Poland. De Frias met distributors for Switzerland and the UK to discuss distribution of his brand there.
The Navetta Inverso line is made by Joya de Nicaragua, like all of the Fratello cigars except the Oro line, which is rolled in the Dominican Republic by La Aurora. The new line is avalaible in three sizes: Corona Gorda (5 7/8 x 46), Robusto (5 ¼ x 54) and Toro Grande (6 ¼ x 54). The price range in Europe will be from 7 to 12 Euros.
