Drew Estate Goes Dominican

Perhaps no company arrived at the 2026 PCA Show with more momentum or more news than Drew Estate. The Subculture kings descended on the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center with a fully Dominican-focused agenda that signals a bold new chapter for one of the industry’s most iconic companies.

Leading the product charge on the show floor were two new releases rooted in Dominican tobacco. The Undercrown El Tigre Dominicano marks the first time the beloved Undercrown line has centered a blend around Dominican fillers, pairing HVA and Criollo ’98 leaves with a Connecticut Corojo H99 Hybrid binder and an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper across four box-pressed vitolas. Meanwhile, the Deadwood Tobacco Co. Dominicana Buenas Noches gives the Deadwood line its own Dominican expression, wrapping Dominican fillers in a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper over a San Andres Mexican binder — a rich, nightcap-ready smoke built to close out the evening in style.

The biggest announcement, however, came just before the show opened: Drew Estate revealed plans to establish Drew Dominicana, a 73,000-square-foot factory and proprietary tobacco farm in Villa Gonzalez, Dominican Republic—a vision that Jonathan Drew Sann first put to paper back in 2015. The facility is expected to open in early 2027, at which point production of both El Tigre Dominicano and Deadwood Dominicana will eventually transition there from La Gran Fábrica in Estelí, Nicaragua.

Adding yet another layer to an already packed booth, Drew Estate also offered retailers a first look at J. Sann & Son, Jonathan Drew Sann’s personal family factory venture operating out of Wynwood, Florida. The boutique operation—with just four rollers producing roughly 500 handcrafted cigars per day—previewed a five-brand portfolio including Our Trademark, Madrugada, Thirteen Years, West End Cigars, and Homegrown, with Drew Estate handling distribution and first shipments expected in January 2027.
