Bond Roberts Cigars’ debut cigar, the LĂnea D No.06, which was launched earlier this year at events in Miami and Hong Kong, will be available globally from mid-August at select brick-and-mortar cigar merchants and online retailers.Â
Blended by legendary Cuban cigar roller Hamlet Paredes, these cigars are produced at Oscar Valladeres’ factory in Honduras under Bond Roberts’ Fabrica 5 concept.
The Bond Roberts LĂnea D No.06, a Petit 109 cigar (50 ring gauge x 5 7/8 inches) is a distinctive vitola chosen for its scarcity in the Cuban and general cigar markets. The cigar features Honduran wrappers and binders with Honduran and Nicaraguan fillers. Complementing the Petit 109, a Bond Roberts 109 vitola (50 ring gauge x 7 ÂĽ inches) using the same blend will be on the market in October.
“Since our launch events earlier this year, the response to the Petit 109 and 109 has been overwhelming,” said Rob Ayala, CEO of Bond Roberts. “With such a fantastic product, a brilliant team, global distribution in place, and a worldwide army of Bond Roberts zealots, I cannot wait for the official release date. I am so proud of Hamlet Paredes, Oscar Valladares, and Angel Miranda Battle, who has done a fantastic job with the brand’s artwork.”Â
Hamlet Paredes, who oversees the Fabrica 5 production, developed close to forty blends before finalizing the perfect one. “My familiarity with Nicaraguan and Honduran tobacco was essential to this project,” said Paredes. “Despite working with the best Cuban tobacco, which to me is very special, I can generalize and say that Nicaraguan tobacco is stronger than Honduran tobacco, while Honduran tobacco is, again generally, sweeter, softer, more aromatic, and closest to Cuban tobacco. Both Nicaraguan and Honduran tobaccos dance beautifully when they come together in the right way. I speak generally, of course, as tobacco will take characteristics not only from countries but from individual farms, regions within the farm, and the way they are treated throughout the fermentation process.”
Working with Oscar Valladares’ tobacco was a pleasure for Paredes due to Valladares’ unique fermentation process, which delivers tobacco that is very different from what Paredes has worked with before. “Every blend is its own movie, but I am always looking to create the special movie that will be seen by many people and deliver deep satisfaction, which they enjoy to the end with a smile on their face.”
Distributed in the UK by J.J. Fox and across Europe and Asia by COH Cigars, Bond Roberts Cigars plans to have up to 15 cigars across two lines in the market in the next three years. The Bond Roberts LĂnea D No.06 will have an MSRP of USD$16.
