The Davidoff of Geneva flagship store at 515 Madison Avenue has reopened in New York City.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re delighted with the redesign of the boutique and welcome you to its elegant ambiance,\u201d says chief executive officer, Beat Hauenstein. \u201cThe renovation of the store, whichfirst opened in 1987, underscores our commitment to offering not only the finest cigars but also a complete experience where hospitality and design converge.\u201d<\/p>\n
The renovated retail space, measuring 307 square meters\/ approx. 3,300 square feet, includes new retail areas as well as two lounges. Furnished with cubic leather armchairs and multiple televisions, they are suitable for social gatherings as well as private events.
\nThe two membership levels available are Private Lounge, for USD 1,400\/EUR 1,215 per year and Locker Membership USD 3,400\/EUR 2,950 per year. The former entitles customers to smoke in one of the lounges, while the latter allows secure storage of cigars in one of 75 lockers, as well as access to the lounge.<\/p>\n
However, customers without a reservation receive day access with a purchase of USD 250.00\/EUR 217.00 or more. At the heart of the store is a large, walk-in humidor behind glass. In addition to Davidoff, AVO, and Camacho, it also showcases other brands such as Padr\u00f3n, Plasencia, My Father Cigars, Ashton, Arturo Fuente, and Foundation. Davidoff also operates a cigar shop at 1390 6th Avenue. Earlier this year, the company announced the closure of its third Manhattan store at Brookfield Place.<\/p>\n
Worldwide, the company operates 65 Davidoff flagship stores. According to Hauenstein, the flagship store on Madison Avenue is one of the three highest-grossing retail locations worldwide, alongside Hong Kong and Geneva. When asked about the importance of the New York market, he says: \u201cNew York has a strong cigar culture, and New Yorkers are very knowledgeable, much like customers in Geneva.\u201d Hauenstein also emphasizes that New York is an excellent test market for the rest of the country.<\/p>\n
