{"id":65096,"date":"2023-09-15T11:49:37","date_gmt":"2023-09-15T09:49:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cigarjournal.com\/?p=65096"},"modified":"2023-09-15T11:49:37","modified_gmt":"2023-09-15T09:49:37","slug":"old-british-brand-gets-new-lease-of-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cigarjournal.com\/de\/old-british-brand-gets-new-lease-of-life\/","title":{"rendered":"Old British Brand Gets New Lease of Life"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">UK cigar importer, Tor Imports, used this year\u2019s InterTabac as a launchpad for a new line in its prestige Charatan handrolled brand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The brand itself \u2013 older, I\u2019m fact, than London Bridge \u2013 was originally owned privately by the Charatan family for many years and was then made by Dunhill\u2019s cigar division, until it was sold to Tor Imports when Dunhill divested itself of its cigar operations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Since then, Charatan has become established as the biggest-selling brand in the importer\u2019s portfolio.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThis year is an important one in that the brand celebrates its 160<\/span><span class=\"s2\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> anniversary,\u201d explained Scott Vines, Managing Director of Tor Imports. <\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u201cWe wanted something special to mark the occasion, and we think we have found the perfect fit with the Haytor.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The anniversary cigar, made by long-time Tor Imports partner Joya de Nicaragua, is a 6.5ins x 44 blend of Jalapa fillers, a Mexican San Andres binder and Ecuadorean Connecticut wrapper, creating a smooth, elegant and creamy smoke, with a pigtail cap and a closed foot.
