{"id":64645,"date":"2023-08-15T16:41:09","date_gmt":"2023-08-15T14:41:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cigarjournal.com\/?p=64645"},"modified":"2023-08-15T16:41:09","modified_gmt":"2023-08-15T14:41:09","slug":"the-silent-hunter-struck-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cigarjournal.com\/de\/the-silent-hunter-struck-again\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cThe Silent Hunter\u201d Struck Again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">If the winning times of the US Cigar Smoking World Championship qualifications were modest, it was probably because the winners were saving the best for last, or at least the penultimate considering there\u2019s a grand final in Croatia coming up.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Anyway, Mose Ramieh\u2019s 2 hours and 42 was more than an hour and a half better than his time in the Atlanta qualifier and the 10<\/span><span class=\"s2\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> best time of the season, yet it wasn\u2019t enough to secure a win. In fact, it wasn\u2019t even enough for second place. Instead the fight for the US title came down to the Pittsburgh champion and last year\u2019s winner Drew Emch and the Indianapolis champion, Barrett Johnson.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The final was held at BURN by Rocky Patel in Atlanta, Georgia, and three minutes after Ramieh was out Johnson had to pack in. Yet another minute later Emch let his cigar burn out as well, sending a message of confidence to the rest of the CSWC world.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cHe said that he stopped on purpose, not to reveal what he\u2019s got in store for the grand final,\u201d CSWC founder Marko Bilic says.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Emch has definitely made an impact on the slow smoking scene since he surprisingly took home the title last year. He\u2019s now nick-named \u201cThe Silent Hunter\u201d and The CSWC organization places him among the very best.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cWe\u2019re undoubtedly seeing a new CSWC mega star here, possibly one of the best ever,\u201d Bilic says. \u201cTime will tell, but he surely has it all; courage, patience, skill, talent and not to mention an incredible competitive spirit.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">With three names in the top 20 of the season, the US will be a force to be reckoned with, for sure. At least if we see all of them in the final. And \u201cThe Silent Hunter\u201d could be the one leading the way. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThe anticipation for the CSWC grand final has reached a fever pitch,\u201d Bilic concludes. \u201cThe Apex Cigar Lounge, the nurturing ground for Drew&#8217;s talent and passion, deserves hearty congratulations for fostering a champion of such caliber.
