A total of 30 competitors participated in two qualification rounds. In Ko\u0161ice defending national champion Peter Novysedl\u00e1k won with 1 hour 40 minutes and 22 seconds, while Richard Tlu\u010dko and Filip Novotn\u00fd came in second and third, only one minute apart. It wasn\u2019t enough, though.
