Similarly, El Habano Moderno is set to become the definitive book on Cuban cigars of the modern era.

Available for pre-order via Kickstarter, Alexander Groom states that El Habano Moderno will be a comprehensive, beautifully illustrated collector’s guide to contemporary Cuban cigars, presented in two parts.

The first part, of approximately 130 pages, gives a brief overview of the history of the Cuban cigar, along with detailed analysis of the various details and methods that can be used to date and authenticate Cuban cigars of any time period. The second part, some 600 pages in length, presents detailed information on each release of Cuban cigar produced in the modern era, beginning with the early 2000s. This part includes detailed information on over 1,000 cigars, illustrated with high-quality photographic illustrations, most of which were created especially for this work. This section also includes important details related to packaging, sizes, release dates and quantities, as well as interesting information and trivia where pertinent.

“I have been seriously working on the project for around two years, although had been kicking it around for around two years before that,” said Groom. “My motivation for a published book stemmed from when we experienced some technical issues in 2016 and almost lost the website. Couple that with seeing the online material of guys like Nic Wing and Theo Rudmann disappear from the internet after they sadly passed away is also a motivator.”

Besides being a more permanent legacy, El Habano Moderno documents an era and allowed Groom to question and confirm his current material. “I feel that we are a few years into a period of significant change for the Cuban cigar, and I wanted to document the era in a lasting way. Finally, it was a good excuse for me to go through all Cuban Cigar Website material, thoroughly research and validate everything, and answer any questions that I had. I think there’s a lot of technical stuff in there that will be new even to experts,” said Groom.

Three editions of El Habano Moderno are being made available for pre-order:

A Kickstarter Edition, presented as a single volume: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cubancigars/el-habano-moderno-cuban-cigars-of-the-modern-era

A Retail Edition, presented as a single volume

A Limited Collector’s Edition of two volumes, presented in a dress-style box.

“The Kickstarter and Retail Edition books are anything but standard,” said Groom. “These case-bound (hardcover) books will be printed in full colour on high-quality gloss art paper, and Smythe-sewn for durability and lay-flat convenience. The Retail Edition features a paper-wrapped hardcover in a rich Oxblood red, whilst our Kickstarter Edition is presented in a vibrant Caribbean blue. Both are finished in a silky matte laminate and embossed with gold foil details.”

The beautiful Collector’s Edition is presented in two volumes, each bound in linen and with tipped-on volume markings in the style of the desirable ‘diplomatic’ bands seen on certain rare cigars. These volumes will feature crisp debossing and gold foil, as befits a limited edition, luxury product such as this. Each book will be hand-signed and numbered by Alexander Groom. This personal touch will clearly indicate the limited nature of the edition. The two volumes are presented in a dress-style ‘cigar’ box.

El Habano Moderno: A Collector’s Guide to Cuban Cigars of the Modern Era available for pre-order now on Kickstarter:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cubancigars/el-habano-moderno-cuban-cigars-of-the-modern-era

Cuban Cigar Website:

CubanCigarWebsite.com

El Habano Moderno: A Collector’s Guide to Cuban Cigars of the Modern Era is an exciting new book authored by renowned Cuban cigar specialist Alexander Groom, the man behind Cuban Cigar Website.

[441,49,2804,2812,44,58
3211,3212,7119
