The Por Larra\u00f1aga Galanes was introduced at the Ignite Conference & Trade Show, for Tobacco Specialists, and is now available in selected outlets across the UK.<\/p>\n
The cigar measures 4 \u00be\u201d(120mm) x 52 ring gauge and becomes comfortably the widest offering within the brand\u2019s standard range. It is an exclusive size within the Habanos portfolio and a decidedly modern vitola (shape) from Cuba\u2019s oldest cigar brand still in production today.<\/p>\n
The name Por Larra\u00f1aga, which means \u2018By Larra\u00f1aga\u2019, was first registered in Havana by a certain Ignacio Larra\u00f1aga in 1834.<\/p>\n
For much of the 19th century and into the early part of 20th the brand built a reputation for the highest quality, particularly amongst the royal houses, the rich and the famous of that time.<\/p>\n
Its golden band also famously attracted the attention of Rudyard Kipling who in his 1890 poem \u2018The Betrothed\u2019, asserted that \u201cThere\u2019s peace in a Larra\u00f1aga, there\u2019s calm in a Henry Clay\u201d.<\/p>\n
Today the Galanes joins a small, much loved, range of Por Larra\u00f1aga sizes which are all rolled in La Corona factory, 520 Avenida 20 de Mayo, Havana.<\/p>\n
