Uhle opened up a tobacco and pipe shop in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin.\u00a0 Mr. Uhle would sit in the front of his store and repair pipes and blend pipe tobacco throughout the 1940\u2019s.\u00a0 In the 1950\u2019s, he would sell his tobacco and pipes to retailers throughout the Midwest, which is still part of their business to this day.\u00a0 But nowadays Uhle\u2019s is known as being Milwaukee\u2019s mecca of cigars in addition to pipes.\u00a0 A super knowledgeable staff greets you when you walk in the door and assists you with your cigar selection.\u00a0 There is not a walk-in humidor present in Uhle\u2019s, and that is because current owner, Jeff Steinbock, insists that you ask a tobacconist for their assistance in your cigar selection.\u00a0 \u201cPeople get lost in walk-in humidors because there are so many cigars.\u00a0 Then they wind up just going to a cigar that they are familiar with and then they never try anything new.\u201d says Steinbock.\u00a0 In Uhle\u2019s, there are nothing but cabinet humidors.\u00a0 This really entices the customer to ask where a certain cigar may be, and by doing so, engages the conversation with the tobacconist.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"alignnone wp-image-39156 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cigarjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/IMG_0629.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"770\" height=\"578\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cigarjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/IMG_0629.jpg 770w, https:\/\/www.cigarjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/IMG_0629-500x375.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 770px) 100vw, 770px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Tobacconist Dario Wilson implores that the customers ask for his guidance!\u00a0 The last thing he wants is a customer smoking the wrong cigar.\u00a0 A full bodied cigar being smoked by a newbie is a recipe for disaster!\u00a0 He, along with the other fine cigar geeks working the counter will not steer you wrong!\u00a0 And they might pour you a glass of whiskey to wet your whistle.<\/p>\n<p>But the big attraction to Uhle\u2019s is nostalgia!\u00a0 When you walk around Uhle\u2019s, you are soaking in the ambiance of a cigar shop that has existed for 60 years before the cigar boom!\u00a0 Not too many stores can boast that!\u00a0 You can talk to Jeff and the crew and hear about all of the famous people and dignitaries who have made their way through these halls over the years and smoked a cigar to take a break from the hustle.<\/p>\n<p>And lastly, don\u2019t forget to ask Jeff about his guitars.\u00a0 The man loves to make guitars, but does not know how to play them!\u00a0 The guitars wind up becoming beautiful wall art.\u00a0 You can also ask Jeff about his ballroom dancing, after 20 years of practice, he\u2019ll tell you that he is just now getting the hang of it!<\/p>\n<h3>Uhle\u2019s Tobacco Company<\/h3>\n<p>114 W Wisconsin Ave<br \/>Milwaukee, WI 53203<br \/>(414) 273-6665<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/uhles.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Uhles.com<\/a><br \/>Seating capacity:\u00a0 25<br \/>Food Available: no<br \/>Alcohol available: no<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In 1939, a man named John H.
