Incoming new co-owners brought about the change, seeking to improve on the popular venue.

“After three years of operations, we decided to give The Cabinet a fresh look,” said Jeremy Tay, a co-owner of The Cabinet. “There is more Asian and Oriental theme to our colour scheme and artworks.”

Post-remodel, The Cabinet now houses an impressive selection of boutique cigars, and a private area called the Council Room. The interior is cosy-contemporary with its dark wood panelling and deep Chesterfield lounge sofas to sink into. Splashed around the walls are blocks of brilliant red, black, and gold hues in oversized primary shapes creating the unique juxtaposition of Asian-inspired age of opulence meets the clean lines of modernity. At the very forefront is the bar: a mirror-backed showcase of revered spirits line the central wall of the space, neatly encased by a gold-lined counter with a black marble countertop that stretches the expanse of the bar flanked by scarlet red bar stools.

“We have also expanded our drinks menu,” notes Tay. “We are re-positioning ourselves as a cigar and drinks venue, as opposed to a cigar and whisky lounge. There will be more gin, rum, tequila, vodka, and cocktails making it more exciting and appealing.”

To celebrate the re-launch and the new direction, a pre-opening cigar and spirits pairing event was held recently featuring Antigua Esteli cigars supplied by Puros Asia. Drinks supplier Wholly Spirits lead guests through their premium and boutique whisky, rum, bourbon, tequila, gin, and vodka portfolio, while Chocolate Concierge showcased Pahang and Malaccan single estate Malaysian chocolate.

The Cabinet, KL
80A Lorong Maarof, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur
Tel +6011 3322 4053
www.thecabinetkl.com

The Cabinet in Kuala Lumpur, a two-time finalist in Cigar Trophy’s Cigar Lounge of the Year award, has re-opened after a design and theme refurbishment.

[5463,44
5634,6339
